LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear Friends of CASA-EP:

On behalf of our Board of Directors, staff, volunteer caseworkers, and especially the children and families we serve, thank you so much for visiting our CASA of the Eastern Panhandle (CASA-EP) website.

CASA-EP believes that every child has a right to a safe and permanent home in which he or she can experience the joys of childhood and thrive. Toward that end, I write now to invite you to join us in our work to ensure that the children of the Eastern Panhandle who have been affected by neglect and abuse have the best possible chance at a bright future.

Because so many people have joined in our effort to address and fulfill the needs of children here in the Eastern Panhandle who are the victims of abuse and neglect, we have made significant progress since our inception just four years ago.  Unfortunately, and in spite of tremendous efforts, one reality has not changed significantly:  Child abuse and neglect remain considerable problems in Berkeley, Jefferson, and Morgan counties.  In fact, Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) officials predict a continued rise in reported abuse and neglect cases.

In view of this pronouncement, CASA-EP has decided to work that much harder, and to re-double our commitment to achieving our goal of recruiting and training enough volunteers so that each neglected and/or abused child removed from his/her home will have the benefit of working, and forging a relationship with a CASA-EP Volunteer. To do this, we will have to significantly enhance our outreach and recruitment efforts—a task, that can only yield meaningful results when people just like you join and work with us.

Please visit the “volunteer” page here on our site and fill out the application.  Or, if you are presently unable to commit to being a CASA-EP volunteer, you can also help by making a monetary donation—this can be done by going to our “donations” page.

Your support of our efforts is critical, and I’m certain that with your help, we will surely be instrumental in changing, if not saving, the lives of our most vulnerable children.

Again, thank you very much for visiting our website, and I look forward to working with you.

Sincerely,

Leslie Crabill
President
